About

I'm Michael—an illustrator, portrait artist, and ceremonial Beadle based in Edinburgh. With an MFA in Animation and a BA (Hons) in Illustration, my work blends classical technique with a contemporary sensitivity to storytelling, heritage, and human presence.

My illustrations and portraiture are stocked locally, including at cultural landmarks such as St Giles' Cathedral. Whether through greeting cards or bespoke commissions, I aim to create images that carry both beauty and meaning—works that feel personal, timeless, and quietly powerful.

Alongside my artistic practice, I serve as a Beadle at Scotland’s High Kirk, participating in national ceremonial events including the Honours of Scotland and the Coronation commemorations for King Charles III. These experiences deepen my appreciation for symbolism, tradition, and the theatre of public life—elements that subtly inform my visual work.

Through line, light, and composition, I seek to elevate the everyday into something mythic, crafted, deliberate, and worthy of remembrance.
